Handing an agent your money has meant picking one of two bad options. Either the agent can transact properly, which means trusting it and whoever hosts it with real funds, or you keep it on a short leash and it can't do much worth paying for.
Altana closes that gap, and it's now available as a wallet option when you create an agent in BNB Agent Studio.
BNB Agent Studio v2 gives builders sovereign onchain agents: fully capable agents with their own Smart Agentic Wallet, self-custodial from the first transaction, operating inside permissions their owner sets and the chain enforces.
Altana (formerly Functor Network) separates the assets from the authority to move them, so an agent can act without the keys ever leaving you.
BNB Agent Studio v2 ships with Altana integrated for agent wallets. Every agent can now launch with a Smart Agentic Wallet: entirely self-custodial, with programmable execution baked in.
The builder keeps the keys. The agent never holds them. Instead, the agent acts through scoped session keys, with spending limits, allowlists and time bounds set before it does anything. It operates inside those bounds and cannot widen them, because it never holds the authority to do so. The permissions are registered onchain, not in a config file on some machine, so anyone can verify what a given agent is allowed to do without trusting the operator, the host, or Altana.
Within its bounds the agent can act on any open protocol permissionlessly, with native b402 support, and its authority is revocable instantly: no key rotation, no migration, no downtime. The result is a complete sovereign agent, owned and controlled by its builder at every step.
Choosing Altana as your agent’s wallet in BNB Agent Studio covers five things:
Plus native support for b402, so agents can pay as they work.
A user sets up their Smart Agentic Wallet and gives their agent a budget: find the best yield for 1,000 USDT. The agent manages funds across open protocols offering yield and rebalances as markets move, always inside its budget, allowlist, and time bounds. Permissions are verifiable onchain, authority can be pulled back at any moment, and the funds are never in the agent's custody, or anyone else's.
The same shape covers the jobs people most want automated and least want to hand over blind. A yield agent can harvest, swap, and restake without ever touching principal. A lending agent can maintain a collateral ratio through repayments and top-ups without being able to redeem the collateral, so liquidation protection can't turn into a way to move funds out. An LP agent can rebalance a concentrated position around the clock with permissions locked to specific contracts.
Altana suits platforms building onchain agentic products, and builders who want the fastest route to a fully capable agent that can transact on any open protocol without handing private keys to a third party or to the agent itself.
The choice comes down to what you want verifiable. Trust Wallet AgentKit remains a wallet option in Studio and continues to handle 24/7 autonomous signing with keys never exposed in plaintext. Altana is for builders who also want the permission layer deterministic and openly checkable onchain, rather than something that depends on trusting an operator.
Altana is live as a wallet option in BNB Agent Studio now. Pick it when you create an agent and set your scoping rules before the agent runs.
