BNB Beacon Chain Mainnet Second Sunset Upgrade Announcement

The upgrade hardfork will take effect at block height 378,062,790 on July 14, 2024, at 6:00 AM UTC. Full node runners on the mainnet must upgrade to version 0.10.22 by July 14.

1. Background Story

This is the second Beacon Chain sunset upgrade for BC Fusion, please refer to the BNB Chain Fusion page.

BNB Stakers (on the Old Staking Platform or using BEP153 Staking)

Moving delegations from BC to BSC; a detailed guide is available. Please take action ASAP.

Upgrade to v0.10.22

  1. If node is synced with network, download the new binary and new config file of app.toml 

  2. Add or update the SecondSunsetHeight = 378062790 under the [upgrade] module of app.toml.

  3. Restart bnbchaind process

  4. Please upgrade by July 14.

  • The BEP2 assets locked in timelock will be automatically unlocked and refunded to the owners

  • The BEP2 assets locked in atomicswap will be automatically unlocked and refunded to the owners

  • The BNB delegations will be automatically undelegated in batches, and refunded to the delegators after the unbonding period (7 to 14 days)
