BNB Chain Extension Wallet Decommissions Wallet Direct

Starting with the upcoming version in September 2023, BNB Chain Extension Wallet will decommission Wallet Direct. This article outlines the decommission plan and the alternatives for users.

The BNB Chain extension wallet decommissioned Wallet Direct in preparation for a new offering to give a better experience to our users. It will be available in the coming months. Users that have already connected their addresses with Binance.com will not immediately be impacted.

New users can manage and transfer their assets between BNB Chain Extension Wallet and Binance.com by using Receive/Send on BNB Chain Extension Wallet and Withdraw/Deposit on Binance.com or using Binance Web3 DeFi Wallet. Existing users can also follow this process when wallet direct becomes unavailable to them ahead of the upgrade.

What is Wallet Direct?

Wallet Direct streamlines asset transfers by seamlessly linking your BNB Chain Extension Wallet addresses with your Binance.com accounts. It allows you to quickly and easily move funds between them. However, starting with the upcoming version in September, BNB Chain Extension Wallet will be decommissioning Wallet Direct.

Decommissioning plan

As part of our decommissioning plan, we will implement the following steps:

Cease New Connections:

Starting with the upcoming version of BNB Chain Extension Wallet, users will no longer be able to connect new wallet addresses to their Binance.com accounts.

Continued Access for Existing Connections:

Users who have already connected their addresses with Binance.com can continue to access Wallet Direct-related functionalities through BNB Chain Extension Wallet.

Automatic Disconnection:

Following a period, all connections between BNB Chain Extension Wallet and Binance.com accounts will be automatically disconnected. This will result in the removal of all Wallet Direct-related functionality.

BNB Chain aims to ensure a smooth transition process for all our users as we implement these changes.
