We’re back with another installment of BNB Chain News – your weekly wrap-up of everything happening in our exciting ecosystem!

New projects on BNB Chain 🔥

Tech Updates 💻

• The Greenfield Testnet successfully upgraded to v0.2.1, known as the Mekong Testnet, on May 25th between 6:00 am - 10:00 am UTC. Notable changes include discontinuation of the Greenfield BSC Testnet (Chain ID: 5601), integration of the ETH-API endpoint with the Tendermint endpoint, and the introduction of new features in the Greenfield v0.2.1 release. • The Coming Fast Finality On BSC blog article: The community is introducing FastFinality to enhance the BSC network's user experience, reducing transaction confirmation time significantly. Moving from probabilistic to explicit finality, it is expected to finalize transactions in just 7.5 seconds, compared to the previous 45 seconds, thereby outperforming Bitcoin and Ethereum in finality time. FastFinality is currently being tested since 1 week and, if successful, will be enabled on the mainnet by mid-July.

BSC client dev highlight

• Github #1648. This enables validator nodes to use bloXroute MEV services, register with MEV relay on restart or epoch change, and process eth_proposedBlock from MEV relays, creating a win-win situation for Searchers, Block builders, and Proposers by capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities.
• Github #1623. To prevent network congestion and potential P2P attacks, BNBChain introduces an IP limit that restricts the number of connections from a single IP address, ensuring network stability and accessibility for new peers. This limit is customizable through command line or config.toml, and trust nodes remain unrestricted.

Ecosystem Highlights 🌎

• BNBChain is implementing zkBNB with a secure two-step Multi-Party Computation (MPC) ceremony for private computations and system integrity, partnering with community members. If interested in participating, please comment before month-end. For more information please refer to this forum post link
• Tech Community Call #4 : BNB Ecosystem is holding a public workshop on May 31st to discuss technical updates, specifically focusing on the Fast Finality mechanism, the Greenfield Mekong Testnet, and BSC's Multi-chain strategy. The workshop will offer deep insights into various topics including validator vote rules, the transition of Greenfield BSC Testnet to BSC Chapel Testnet, and updates on L2 solutions for blockchain scalability.
